Our walk starts at Hundar at 9900Ft and as we walk towards the 17782Ft Dok La pass, we come across people living cheerfully at 12000ft add a few nomads living higher up at about 15000ft. This region is real Yak grazing country, contrasting with remaining Ladakh - stark and barren.

Nubra valley is populated on either sides of the pass by small villages fed by the waters of the Thanglasgo (called Skarchuni at Hundar that drains into the Shyok river which in turn meets the mighty Indus) and Lasermo (which drains into Phyang Nullah that directly drains into the Indus)

The walk initially takes us through the rugged country along the banks of Skarchuni, softening into green pastures at the Doks (Dok Gongma and Dok Yogma). Further the walk is a great play of rugged country with green pastures run over by grazing yaks, spectacular granite mountains topped with snow and ice and small ponds formed by the clear waters of the streams before ending into the snow slopes of the pass at Lasermo.

The other side is a continuous downhill walk for 2 days alongside glaciers, green bloom and playing marmots until we meet civilisation at Murubok, about 7000Ft below the pass - a very rewarding experience!

After the trek we take a drive down to beautiful Pangong Tso Lake. Pangong Tso lake is shared between Tibet and India with only about 30% of the lake in India. Set amidst beautiful Valleys with high mountains circling it, the colours of this come alive.

Rafting on the Indus is a dream everyones wants to live. A river full of life cutting through the steep slopes of the Leh valley and Markha valley is worth river-running on. This stretch on the north-western side of Leh displays a different character...rugged, steep and full of excitement.
